Gilis a perdu son match du premier tour face à l'Anglaise Georgina Kennedy (PSA 8) en trois jeux : 11-8, 11-3, 11-8.


Plus tôt dans la journée, sa sœur Tinne Gilis (PSA 9) a, quant à elle, décroché sa place pour le deuxième tour. Elle a battu l'Égyptienne Mariam Metwally (PSA 30) sur le score de 11-4, 11-3, 11-6. Son prochain adversaire sera l'Indienne Anahat Singh (PSA 20).
