Vainqueur de la course qualificative samedi, Coenen a débuté sa course en 8e position mais est rapidement remonté en 4e place puis en 2e position derrière Febvre. Le Français a senti le souffle de Coenen dans son dos mais a conservé sa première place devant Coenen et le Néerlandais Calvin Vlaanderen (Yamaha), 3e.


Côté belge encore, Brent van Doninck (Honda) s'est classé 7e et Jago Geerts (Yamaha) 28e.


La seconde course en MXGP débutera à 17h10, une heure après la seconde course en MX2.
