A Ball is picture on a padel playground in the Makkabi Youth club in Frankfurt am Main, western Germany, on October 27, 2026. When they sweat it out at a big German sports club, Jewish, Muslim and other athletes are also sending a strong signal against rising antisemitism, the head of Makkabi Frankfurt tells AFP. Founded in 1965 and named after the Maccabee rebel Jewish warriors that fought the Seleucid Greek Empire, the club was set up for Jews in and around Frankfurt to have somewhere to play sport safely, before later opening up to all, club president Alon Meyer said.
